The outer skin of wire and cable products is mostly ordinary plastic (PVC) or rubber, when they are in a sub-zero environment, it will become hard, and the entire wire and cable product body will be hard and brittle, resulting in the outer skin may fall off and be damaged in the case of slight external force. In winter, especially in the northern region, the outdoor temperature is often below freezing, and the surface temperature may be lower, so if the wire and cable products are placed outdoors or directly on the surface, it is likely that the product skin will fall off. So, how do we prevent the phenomenon of wire and cable sheath falling off in winter? The following measures are taken at each stage -

1. Factory transportation: When the product is loaded onto the transportation vehicle out of the factory, it needs to be kept warm and protected. For example, the use of closed means of transport to prevent direct exposure of the product; Put a soft cushion on the product, such as a futon or other soft foam, etc.; When loading, handle with care, do not load roughly, and avoid excessive bending of the product.

2. When arriving at the destination or construction site, it is best for the product supplier to send personnel to supervise and prevent rough operation when the product is unloaded.

3. Storage: It is best to store the product indoors, and at the same time lay a layer of isolation layer on the surface of the storage, such as wooden boards, bedding, foam, etc., to prevent the product from freezing and damp, and pay attention to prevent the product from being in direct contact with the ground to scratch the outer skin of the wire and cable.

4. When laying and installing the product: it is best to choose to work in the case of warm temperature in the middle and afternoon, and if possible, you can use heaters and other equipment to "warm up" the product in advance before use, so that the product can reach the best performance state. If it is buried, a protective layer can be laid in the cable trench in advance, such as cloth and foam. If it is a pipe, it is necessary to ensure that the inside and outside of the wire pipe are smooth in advance, so as not to scratch the wire. Iron pipes should pay special attention to the purchase of qualified iron pipes, poor quality iron pipes may have a large number of sharp protrusion points in the pipe, which is very likely to scratch the outer skin of the wire.
